Andhra Pradesh: Four Mandals Received Over 100 Mm Of Downpour

Andhra Pradesh witnessed a heavy downpour in the past 24 hours, which resulted in severe waterlogging. Several low-lying areas in the state have suffered from inundation with the rainfall.

According to the information, four mandals in the state were severely hit by the rainfall as they have received more than  100 millimeters (mm) of downpour on Wednesday.

The Anasagaram High School in Nandigama mandal(135 mm), Upper Bathapura of Sompeta mandal(105.8 mm), Penumanta mandal( 103.5 mm), and Rajam mandal in Srikakulam(110.5 mm) have faced the wrath of the severe rainfall.

On the other hand, Coastal Andhra region Palakollu mandal came close to 100 mm rainfall with 99.8 mm, the authorities said.

The authorities of Krishna, Visakhapatnam, and East Godavari districts have swung into action and called for the rescue and relief operations in the respective regions.

The level-two warning has been issued by the authorities, after Prakasham Barrage in temple city, Viajaywada has witnessed around 6 lakh cusecs of floodwaters.

As many as 12 mandals were severely affected by the heavy rains in Weast Godavari, prompting the district authorities to call for State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams.260 people living in low-lying areas were rescued.

The state government headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed all the district collectors to work round the clock until the situation gets under control. They were also asked to maintain ample stock of required medicines.
