The grand old Congress party is in a big political crisis and the party is in search of a leader who can bring back the lost glory. Sonia Gandhi cannot lead the party for a long time and she needs a strong successor. Sonia Gandhi and a section of leaders in the party are trying hard to project Rahul Gandhi as the next leader.
The attempt to make Rahul Gandhi did not turn successful and Rahul stepped down as the chief of Congress. With no option left, Sonia Gandhi became the interim chief and she will hold the post till the party sees a strong leader.
While the situation of the party is not that great, the senior leaders are giving back-to-back shocks to the leadership. Earlier as many as 23 senior leaders became a group and demanded Sonia Gandhi to take tough decisions or else the party cannot survive.
No matter what, the senior leaders are not staying in the party. As a new trend, the leaders are now bidding goodbye to the party. Joining the list of leaders who left the party, veteran Congressman Ghulam Nabi Azad also left the party. Not just leaving the party, he took some serious digs at the party.
Azad said the seniors are being sidelined and inexperienced leaders are getting significance and importance which is not good. He even expressed his shock with the decisions taken by Rahul Gandhi and the party. The veteran politician went on to say that, the Congress leadership made a big mistake by not taking the issues raised by the G-23 leaders seriously
Almost every leader who is leaving the opposition party Congress is saying the same point that they are not given importance in the party and the decisions taken by the party are not showing any benefit. Moreover, such wrong decisions are helping the Bharatiya Janata Party in getting stronger and stronger.
Now Ghulam Nabi Azad also said the same in his letter sent to Sonia Gandhi. To deal with the ongoing Congress, the leadership has to retain the seniors and Azad's episode is the last wake-up call for Congress. If it cannot learn from this then no one can save the party.
