Given The Omicron Fear, Ap Govt Becomes Alert!

Update: 2021-12-29 11:08 GMT
The Andhra Pradesh government that had effectively dealt with the curbing of the novel Coronavirus in both the waves of the pandemic had now shifted its focus to contain the newly detected Omicron variant. With the infections caused by the Omicron variant increasing rapidly, the government had swung into action.

To see that no unwanted situations take place, the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy became alert and asked the people to not gather in big numbers in public places for the eve of the new year.

Keeping a special focus on the places where people might gather like tourist places and famous places, the state government said that they will not allow people to gather in big numbers and said that those who violate the rules and hit the roads will not be spared.

Not just the New year celebrations, the Police department is also stepping in to deal with the possible accidents due to drunk and drive and to counter this, the traffic regulations at big junctions and popular beach areas.

To effectively deal with road accidents, special check posts will come into place across the state to check the commuters if they have consumed any alcohol.

Once the government issues more guidelines on how effectively the safety measures should be implemented, more police personnel will be deployed who will deal with the drunk and drive menace.

It is also said that the Andhra Pradesh government will take a call on imposing a ban on the New Year celebrations as the Chief Minister is likely to chair a key meeting with the concerned officials. We might get more clarity on the restrictions once the government makes a formal announcement in this regard.

Though no announcement was made by the state government, media reports say that the government is of the opinion to go for stricter restrictions to curb the infections and avoid possible transmissions.

Given the Omicron scare, states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi have already banned the celebrations and imposed a few other restrictions as safety measures to deal with the new variant.
