Andhra Pradesh: Government postpones Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Scheme

The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy postponed its flagbearer scheme Jagananna Vidya Kanuka' which was supposed to be unveiled today marking the Teachers' Day.

The decision from the state government came after the Centre didn’t allow the educational institutions across the nation to reopen until the 30th of September under the guidelines of Unlock 4.0.

Under the scheme, every student studying from class 1 to class 10 in the state-run schools will be provided with a kit, named Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Kit that consists of three pairs of uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, a pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, belts and a school bag.

The government has earlier allocated funds of 648.09 crores for the scheme, Under the scheme, 43 lakh students across the state will be benefited.
