Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday that as many as 445 Indians are lodged in Pakistan Prisons at present. Apart from them, About 74 Defence Officials who went missing and 54 War Prisoners are believed to be in Pak jails since 1971.
Minister of State for External Affairs VH Singh informed Rajya Sabha about the Indians in Pakistan custody with statistics. He told 392 fishermen and 53 civilians are lodged in Pak prisons.
VH Singh told Rajya Sabha that about 2,102 Indians were either killed or injured in the past 3 years during various tragedies. He adds, 1,575 people out of them were brought back to India.
The Minister made it clear India is open to associate with Syria's peace process. He, however, told Syrian Government is yet to respond positively to the helping hand offered by India.
