The government employees in Andhra Pradesh gave a big shock to the ruling party earlier with the 'Chalo Vijayawada' protest which was a huge success. In recent times, no state saw such an intense protest. The protesting employees found a way to avoid the surveillance of cops and reach the protesting site. The protest became successful to a point that even the national media covered the news and gave coverage to the news.
Now the current developments hint that the Amaravati employees are in plans to repeat another intense protest on similar lines to the Chalo Vijayawada protest as the employees are not happy with the government's decision and the call was taken at a recent meeting.
The latest information is that the Amaravati employees' joint action committee came together for a crucial meeting and the issues the employees are facing and they wanted to raise their voices for the same.
Listing out the issues faced by the employees, Amaravati employees' joint action committee chairman Bopparaju Venkateshwarlu, general secretary Y V Rao and others said that the employees are not getting salaries and pension on time and they alleged that the allowance arrears amounts were also withdrawn and getting ministers' committee's appointment became an even bigger task.
Looking at the way the JAC members are raising their voices and expressing their concerns about the issues faced by the employees, many think that we might see another big protest from the JAC and its members.
Chalo Vijayawada protest was planned by the JAC to demand the government increase the pay scales of the employees. Though the pay scale of employees was increased it was not what the employees expected and asked for. After the intense protest, the government increased the payscales partially.
Its been a few months since the revised pay scales were announced for the employees of government bodies. Based on seniority, the employees were given a hike. However, the Amaravati employees' joint action committee members are now alleging that the government is not even implementing the pay scales announced by it. They are saying that with no positive response, they are looking at the protest option.
