Update: 2021-03-19 08:07 GMT
With the nation reporting the surge in fresh Coronavirus infections over the past week, the Union Government urged the states to focus on vaccination drive and bring down the vaccine wastage.

In this backdrop, YSRCP Lok Sabha MP Sanjeev Kumar Singari, who is also a doctor by profession made sensational comments on the Coronavirus vaccination drive. He made the entire country look at him with his controversial comments.

Speaking in the house during a discussion on demands for grants of the Health Ministry, the Lok Sabha member opined that, the government should not waste Rs Rs 35,000 crore for the vaccination drive.

Well, he didn't stop there, he even asked the Union Government to spend the amount on improving the medical infrastructure in the country, instead of wasting the money on the vaccination drive against Covid-19.

"Now the government is proposing to spend Rs 35,000 crore on Covid-19 vaccination, this is a waste of money in my view. Covid-19 vaccine saves us only for 6-9 months after that Rs 35,000 crore will be evaporated," the Lok Sabha member said.

A pandemic like Covid-19 comes once in every 100 hears and they should not be given so much importance to it. Several major cities like Hyderabad are heading towards herd immunity against Coronavirus, he said.

The Union Government had allotted Rs 35,000 crore towards the vaccination program against the Coronavirus in the Budget for 2021-11 fiscal.

Given the second wave of Coronavirus in the western nations, the global health agency World Health Organisation(WHO) had also appealed to the countries to ramp up the vaccination process.
