Govt Should Pay Compensation to Assigned Lands: AP HC!

Assigned land is a piece of land given by the government to the beneficiaries. Mostly, the landless poor get the land under various schemes. The assigned land is that it cannot be sold to others. Under rare situations, the governments take back the assigned lands to use for other purposes.

Unhappy with the Andhra Pradesh government taking back the assigned lands, a few people have knocked on the doors of a local court and the issue reached the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The verdict came in favor of the petitioners.

As a piece of good news for the petitioners, the High Court said that the government should pay the compensation if it takes back the assigned land. The Court also said that the compensation should be paid as the government does with the Patta lands.

The case deals with a few people whose land has been taken by the government calling it assigned land. When they asked about compensation, the authorities reportedly said that there is no need of giving compensation. With no option left, he moved a local court in Renigunta.

The issue reached the Andhra Pradesh High Court from the local court. In the final verdict, the High Court directed the state government to pay the compensation to the petitioners in not less than six months.
