Has KCR scored a self-goal over early polls?

Has Telangana Chief Minister KCR scored a self-goal on the issue of early elections? It appears so. He is finding himself ensnared in his own word trap. He dared the opposition Congress and the BJP for early polls in Telangana. He even dared them to fix the dates. But both the opposition parties have now dared him to dissolve the assembly and go in for early polls. This has now put KCR in a fix.

Unlike in 2018, when he was pally with the BJP at the national level, he cannot dissolve the assembly this time as there are nagging fears that the Central Government could impose president's rule in the state for a few months. This would take away the reins of administration from KCR's hands. Thus, he would lose the incumbency advantage.

As a result, KCR would not go in for dissolving the assembly this time. This will give an opportunity to the Opposition to more stridently demand the dissolution of assembly. KCR would have to remain silent on the issue. More he remains silent, the more the loss of face for the ruling party and KCR. Thus, he trapped himself in his statements.

Also, given the anti-incumbency he is facing, KCR would not want immediate polls now as the party could get a negative result in the elections. Yet, KCR felt that verbal attacks would give him some advantage. However, it now turns out that the opposition parties have turned the heat on him. It now appears that he has scored a self-goal.
