The comments made by High Court Justices on the victim during the hearing of a rape case has become a nation-wide sensation.
In 2015, A Law Student of Haryana's OP Jindal University in Sonipat complained to College Authorities about the sexual harassment she is facing from seniors since August 2013. She alleged three Seniors had raped her repeatedly by blackmailing and they even had nude photographs of her in their possession. Based on the WhatsApp conversations between the Accused and Victim, A court has pronounced the verdict punishing the convicts severely. While Two Accused were sentenced to 20 years in prison, Another person faced 7 years jail term.
The verdict of the Lower Court was challenged in Chandigarh High Court. During the hearing, The Bench opined the Accused doesn't deserve such a harsh punishment as the Victim mingled with them very closely. Judges say the Victim was involved in the vulgar conversation with the seniors and even Doctors had confirmed that her mental condition isn't right. Judgement of the lower court has been struck down considering the future of the students.Â
