Even nine years after the state bifurcation the issues between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana pop up at regular intervals. The division of assets is yet to be sorted out and the Andhra Pradesh government filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the address of the issue.
Now another issue was brought and the Telangana High Court gave key orders on this. Hearing a petition, the bench of Telangana High Court directed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to go to Andhra Pradesh and allocated his cadre to the neighboring state.
It is known that Somesh Kumar was allocated the Andhra Pradesh cadre when the state was divided. But he said that he wants to remain in Telangana and moved the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). The administrative body gave orders making him remain in Telangana.
The Union Government asked him to go to Andhra Pradesh. After CAT gave orders in his favour, the Centre filed a petition in High Court back in 2017. The case has been going on since then and at regular intervals, the case is seeing big developments.
As a big development, the bench of Telangana High Court gave orders directing Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to go to Andhra Pradesh. After hearing the arguments of both sides the bench gave the orders. It is also said that based on the request made by Somesh Kumarâs lawyer the bench reportedly gave three weeks to implement the orders.
Somesh Kumar is holding a big position in Telangana now and he has been serving as the Chief Secretary for the past four years. If he has to go to Andhra Pradesh then the Telangana government has to look for an alternative and the sarkar might go for a senior or experienced candidate.
On the flip side, there are high chances for the Telangana government to challenge the verdict and move the Supreme Court. We have to wait and see what the Telangana government will do now. Even if Somesh Kumar goes to Andhra Pradesh as part of the cadre that was allocated to him, there is no clarity on what position he might get.
