The initial euphoria over the possibility of a BJP-TDP alliance for 2024 elections has now subsided. Now, not even the pro-TDP media is talking about it. For over a week, this was the hottest topic of discussion. But, now the stories of a possible Telugu Desam Party -Bharatiya Janata Party-Jana Sena pact have died down.
Sources say that the stories that appeared in a section of the media were carefully planted and a buzz was created about it by the media houses considered close to Chandrababu Naidu. Soon the TV channels picked the story and the usual blitzkrieg began happening. But, the whole issue cooled off after Chandrababu himself stepped in and said that they was no effort to bring the three parties together.
Sources say the whole issue started when a reputed journalist who is known to be close to the BJP top brass, wrote in her weekly column that the TDP and the BJP were soon coming together. Soon, a TV channel, known to be pro-BJP, picked the story. This was enough for the TDP leaders in the Telugu states to parrot the story. The pro-TDP media too picked the story up.
But it soon became clear that there was no such proposal either from Narendra Modi or from JP Nadda. The BJP spokespersons like GVL Narasimha Rao too have clarified. Later, Chandrababu himself had to say that there was no proposal from any other party for poll alliance. He said that the TDP would fight it alone.
