It is now becoming increasingly clear that outgoing mayor Bonthu Rammohan's loyalty has paid off. His wife Bonthu Sridevi is likely to be the next mayor of Hyderabad. Thus, the couple will become the first mayoral couple in the history of Hyderabad.
Sources say that Rammohan's loyalty to the party has benefited him. Rammohan has been associated with the party from 2001 and has been a very loyal soldier of the party. Even when the party was nowhere near power, he remained steadfast to the Telangana cause and for years, he accompanied KCR wherever he went.
In fact, several other ministers and key leaders tried to promote their wards or close relatives for the post of mayor. But, KCR felt that that would only promote further groupism in the party. He felt that Bonthu does not belong to any group and does not promote a group for himself. Hence he would be completely loyal to him.

Rammohan's term is expiring on February 11 and since he was not given an MLA or MLC ticket, it was thought that he would fade into oblivion.
