Actress Dia Mirza made headlines for all the wrong reasons. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWWSB) accused her of not paying the water bills of her residence since several months. However, the pending bills came to the notice of the actress only after it was reported in the media.
Immediately, Dia took the damage control steps by claiming she isn't aware of the connection or the bills, but would definitely clear the dues within the next 24 hours. "The water connection was taken a long time ago by someone else on my name and I was not aware of the same. As a responsible citizen I am doing the right thing and settling all the bills within the next 24 hours. I am a law abiding citizen and the amount is not such that there can ever be a doubt I would try and avoid payment. The whole issue is a result of oversight miscommunication and is unfortunate," reacted the actress.
In the end, Dia commented she has been working with NGO's to help create water resources for people deprived of water and a water department attacks her in the media. This is what can be called as Irony!
