The newly detected Omicron variant of Coronavirus is the new fear in the market. After ringing danger bells across the globe by spreading to more than 90 countries, the Omicron has made its way into India as well. The new variant is also spreading its wings in India and within no time the Omicin cases crossed the 100-mark the other day.
As when 11 states in the countries have reported the Omicron cases, the Union government had urged the countrymen to not take the virus for granted and appalled them to come forward to take the vaccine doses and follow all the prescribed Covid protocols.
Dr. VK Paul, who is leading the Covid task force set up by the Indian government had warned that if the safety precautions were not taken then India might see the United Kingdom-like situation and the daily cases might go up to 14 Lakhs.
Citing the examples of the United Kingdom and France, VK Paul said, if India gets to see a situation like that of the UK, the daily infections might go up to 14 lakhs taking our population into consideration. If a France-like situation emerges, we might see 13 lakh cases per day, he said.
Mentioning the horrific situation in Europe, VK Paul said, if we look at Europe, the situation is not all good. People are struggling there. Though a major portion of people went for partial vaccinations, they are not safe from the new Coronavirus variant, he said.
Having said that VK Paul urged everyone to strictly follow the Covid protocols like wearing face masks and following the physical distance. We should learn from the situations in other countries. On the occasion, he also warned the public to stay away from unnecessary travels given the Omicron scare. VK Paul said, if traveling is not necessary or important, people should not travel and can postpone their schedule so that no unwanted scenes take place.
The other day, the Health Ministry announced that Omicron cases crossed the 100-mark with Maharashtra topping the list of states with Omicron cases. As of yesterday, Maharashtra recorded as many as 32 Omicron cases.
