Seven Months Into Vaccination Drive, India Administers Over 50 Crore Vaccines
As vaccinating the population of the country is the only way to stop the novel Coronavirus from spreading further, India has launched a nationwide vaccination drive to vaccinate the people.
The vaccination drive was launched in January, 2021. Seven months into the start of the drive, India has reached a big milestone by administering over 50 crore vaccine doses across the country.
While reaching the milestone is surely a piece of good news to India as far as the fight against the deadly virus is concerned. However, the vaccination drive should be ramped to vaccinate more and more people as the third wave of Covid is expected to hit India.
There are some issues that have to be addressed to increase the vaccine numbers in the country. With only three vaccines being available people sometimes find it difficult to get the doses and they have to wait for this.
The second major issue is that people have hesitancy to take the vaccine doses which in turn resulting in the beneficiaries not showing up at the vaccine centres.
On its part, the Union Government is not leaving any stone unturned to get more vaccines available in the country.
It is said that efforts are underway to bring three vaccines developed by different vaccine manufacturers. If this happens, then it would make a big change in the mission to vaccinate the public.
India is the second severely hit country by the ongoing Covid pandemic in the world after the United States.
On the other hand, India saw a massive decline in the fresh infections in the past 24 hours.
After reporting more than 40,000 fresh cases for three consecutive days, India reported 38,628 new Covid-19 cases which takes the total Covid case count to 3,18,95,385.
Covid fatalities zoomed to 4,27,371 after 617 people breathed their last in 24 hours. Despite decline in fresh cases, the fatalities have increased.
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi took to Microblogging site Twitter to share the news of India reaching the milestone of 50 cr vaccine doses and said the numbers should get increased.
