India Should Rely On Scotland And Namibia For Semis Berth!

Update: 2021-11-01 05:57 GMT
Team India led by Virat Kohli had entered the T 20 World Cup as one of the hot favorites for obvious reasons that the Men in Blue finished the England Test series 2-1 with one test remaining and one of the successful captains Mahendra Singh Dhoni serving as the mentor for the Indian team for the T 20 World Cup.

India started the tournament with a humiliating loss to arch-rivals Pakistan in the opening match. With the loss, Pakistan had ended the record of India of not losing the match to Pakistan in World Cup matches. In its second match too, India was crushed big time. Blackcaps New Zealand defeated India on Sunday, thus making the chances of India to go through semis very weak. Having two back-to-back defeats, India's net run rate had come down rapidly.

India has an opportunity to make it to the semis. For this, India has to bring its best game and win the next three matches with Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia. Winning against Afghanistan is not a small task seeing their fierce bowling attack. To keep the semis chances alive, India has to defeat three teams with a good margin. The winning margin should be good enough to increase the NRR.

Besides Winning the three matches, India has to rely on Scotland and Namibia. As a deciding factor for India, Afghanistan should lose to New Zealand and the blackcaps should lose a match either to Scotland and Namibia. Then India will have a chance to enter the semis.

After suffering an eight-wicket defeat to blackcaps, Indian captain Virat Kohli at the post-match press conference said that the Indian team was not brave enough with bat and ball against New Zealand. Giving reasons, Virat Kohli said that India lost wickets when the batsmen tried to take chances and that was not the case with New Zealand.

Virat Kohli concluded his speech by saying that the team should not take any pressure from the next matches and believe in themselves. There is a strong need for the team to have a positive mindset in the next matches, Virat Kohli added.
