While the world has faced many issues with the cases of account hacking and data theft till now looks like the Indian government is planning to counter this and develop its own social media platform like how the Chinese government has WeChat.

At a recent event Tech Mahindra CTO and National Security Expert Amit Dubey's statements has created a sensation. He said that active discussions are going on within the circles of the Ministry to develop India's very own Facebook, Cryptocurrency, and WhatsApp kind of apps.

"The efforts to secure data of the citizens did not yield any results in the past and so many countries across the globe are thinking on these lines. China already has its own social media platform and WhatsApp does not work in the country due to restrictions. With huge of personal data going out of India, it has raised debate on why India cannot have its own social media platform," he maintained.

Mr. Dubey had spoken at the concluding day of the Indiasoft and GlobalSoft 2020 event arranged by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) which was supported by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Dubey who also serves as the advisor of the Personal Data Protection Bill 2019, added that the final draft of the bill is getting prepared and the chances of the bill placed in the Parliament are very high.
