Hugely Concerning: India's total Covid caseload nearing 2.5 crore mark!

In a dangerous development, the total Covid caseload in India is inching towards the 2.5 crore mark after the total cases in the country rose to 2.43 crore. India now has as many as 2,43,72,907 infections caused by Covid.

Data shared by the Union Health Ministry says 3,26,098 new people were found infected with the deadly virus in the past 24 hours. With this, the caseload has mounted to a whopping 2,43,72,907.

In a piece of good news, the new casualties saw a dip as 3,890 patients breathed their last in 24 hours. After seeing more than 4,000 new casualties for three days, the fresh fatalities decreased.

The fresh recovered were recorded close to the new infections. In the past 24 hours, 3,53,299 people were declared cured. With 2,04,32,898 total patients beating the disease, the active states in the country stood at 36,73,802.'

Maharashtra recorded fewer cases since March 31 with 39,923 new COVID-19 cases. Maharashtra now has a total of 53.09 lakh cases. Around 80,000 people breathed their last in the state since the pandemic hit.

Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine made its way to India for the vaccination drive, making it the first imported vaccine to be used in the country. Dr. Reddy's Laboratories will manufacture the Russian vaccine in India. The vaccine will cost ₹ 995.40 per dose in India.

Looking at the vaccine numbers, as of Friday, more than 18 crore vaccinations were carried out in the country since the nationwide vaccination drive was started earlier in January this year.
