The beautiful port city Visakhapatnam is going to have another Tourist Attraction very soon. Warship INS Viraat will soon be remodeled into a Floating Museum-cum-Hotel.

Reportedly, Indian Navy sought 750 acres from the AP Government to establish a world-class museum in the Warship which gonna occupy an area of upto 20 acres with anchoring. This project is estimated to cost anywhere around Rs 1,000 crore. In the first phase, Rs 300 crore will be sanctioned for this project. INS Viraat Warship is likely to be offering its services near Yarada or Bhimili beach.

INS Viraat was first commissioned on May 12th, 1987. It was decommissioned by the Navy on July 23rd, 2016. Given the reputation and historical importance it had, Governments of Goa and Maharashtra competed to bring the warship to their respective states for making it a tourist attraction. Whereas, AP Government managed to convince Centre in the end.
