YS Jagan is always known for his bag of surprises. When everyone thought that he would bring in a Reddy Raj in AP after winning 2019 elections, he surprised everyone with a very balanced and socially well-engineered cabinet that had representation from all the social groups. As part of this, even first time MLAs were made ministers.
Now, it is the same bunch of novices who are turning out to be huge headaches for YS Jagan. In most districts, seniors were left out and juniors were made ministers. As a result, the seniors are forced to make rounds of politicians who are much junior to them to get their works done. This has caused discord within the party and in many constituencies, the differences between the old-timers and the newly-made minsters are only growing. The relations are cold and there is friction. In some districts, the administration is not even responding to the calls from the senior politicians as they are not ministers.
Meanwhile, Jagan's announcement that he would review the performance of the ministers and rejig the ministry if needed has also created confusion. Several officials are waiting till the reshuffle is done. They are keeping the demands of the ministers in abeyance. All this is leading to confusion within the YSRCP.
The biggest problem, however, is that the seniors are not getting appointments from the CM. Despite their attempts, they are unable to meet YS Jagan. The CM is having direct contact with the people and this is making things very difficult for the seniors, who are simmering with discontent.
