A major portion of the parents in India wants two things from their children. One is they have to settle down well and the other one is them getting married as they think that marriage makes married couples happy.

This theory is not a new one. We have been hearing this for ages. But recent research carried out on marriages has found out that some rather shocking findings.

The research paper was published in the Journal of Positive Psychology. To conclude the findings, the researchers have taken opinion from  7,532 on their relationship equations. All the subjects were divided into three categories to get accurate findings.

The subjects were between the age groups of 18 to 60. They were segregated into three sets. The first set consists of subjects who were enjoying life with a single marriage. The second set has people who were single most of the time or people who were not married.

The third set has subjects with a blend of relationship equations. They constantly get into relation and come out of it.

In the questionnaire which is prepared for the research has simple questions like- “Is the relationship necessary for people to stay happy?”, “Did your single relationship status result in your unhappiness?”, “What will happen if your marriage doesn’t work after reaching a certain point?”.

The outcome of the study is that the majority of the participants opined the relationship status has nothing to do with their happiness, while some partici[ants said despite getting married they are going through some rough phases. Looks like the coin has two faces.
