IT Firm Chairman Called Out For Double Standards On Moonlighting!

Update: 2022-08-25 06:54 GMT
The Covid pandemic brought a dark period to the world. Employees had a very tough time as crores of people became unemployed. Those who managed to not lose their jobs suffered a big shock as their salaries were cut by the employers saying the Covid outbreak was a big reason for doing so.

While the other employees had this tough time, the IT employees made the best out of the pandemic by doing multiple jobs. In a recent survey, it was found that IT employees are doing two jobs which is called moonlighting policy. The policy is that along with doing the main job, employees can also take another job in their leisure time.

Reacting to the moonlighting policy of employees, Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji said that he cannot approve the policy as taking up two jobs is nothing but cheating. "There is a lot of chatter about people moonlighting in the tech industry. This is cheating - plain and simple," he said on Twitter.

But the twist is that Risha Premji is the director of around seven companies. Highlighting the same point, the netizens are asking how come he opposes moonlighting policy for the employees and he himself is director of seven companies. They are trolling him for his double standards.

They are asking how Premji can hold the director pots in seven companies when he is endorsing the moonlighting policy as a bad practice and cheating. If he thinks employees cannot give their best in the position with two jobs he can also not give his best as director in the posts.

Moreover, on platforms like LinkedIn, people are giving mixed reactions and responses. While a few say that it is not a bad practice to follow the policy if they can do justice to their both jobs. They even ask what is the issue if they take up another job in the free time they have. A section of users is also opposing it.

To support their version, the users are showing the example of volunteers and guest lecturers who render their services in their free time from their original job. Will this come under cheating, they are asking. We have to wait and see how Premji would react now.
