It's raining Reddys in Nellore Telugu Desam Party these days. Several Reddy leaders, who have till now been in the ruling YSRCP, have recently joined the TDP. They are also promising to give the YSRCP a run for its money in the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections. If one goes to the TDP office in Nellore, one can see a surfeit of Reddy immigrants from the YSRCP.
On Saturday, former finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy came to the Nellore district Telugu Desam Party office and even held a meeting of his supporters. Anam, who has won on the YSRCP ticket from Venkatagiri assembly constituency, is all set to contest this time too. However, it is not yet clear where he will be contesting from. Venkatagiri already has a strong contender in the form of former MLA Kurakonda Ramakrishna.
Earlier, Anam went to Hyderabad and met TDP boss Chandrababu naidu. They had a long chat. It is believed that Anam managed to extract some concrete assurances from Chandrababu Naidu about his future. He could contest from either Atmakur or Nellore or Udayagiri, according to TDP sources.
In another development, TDP leaders Beeda Ravichandra Yadav and Amarnath Reddy went over to Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and held discussions for over an hour. Kotamreddy, a two-time MLA, has fallen out with the YSRCP establishment in Nellore. He has decided to contest on the TDP ticket next time. However, he will have to contend with Nellore rural TDP incharge Abdul Aziz, who has been trying to contest from the same seat.
