Jagan, Sharmila pray together at Idupulapaya

In a significant political pointer, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his estranged sister YS Sharmila offered memorial prayers together for the first ever time in two years for their father YS Rajasekhara Reddy at his final resting place in Kadapa district's Idupulapaya. For the past two years, the siblings were not seen together in any programme.

On Friday, YS Jagan, his mother YS Vijayamma, wife YS Bharathi and YS Sharmila reached Idupulapaya and offered glowing tributes to the departed leader. They also participated in the family prayers.  For the last two years, the family had not prayed together. Jagan offered prayers as per protocol, while Sharmila and Vijayamma offered prayers separately.

Ever since differences emerged in the YS family over the issue of offering positions of power to Sharmila, Jagan and his wife prayed separately. Sharmila had formed the YSRCP and entered politics in Telangana. Sources say that Jagan has strongly opposed Sharmila's political foray. However, mother Vijayamma too has sided with Sharmila.

In the recent plenary of the YSRCP, Vijayamma has relinquished the YSRCP's honorary president's post and has decided to fully back daughter Sharmila in Telangana. Hence, the praying together of both Jagan and Sharmila is being seen as a significant development. Both the siblings were even engaged in a conversation for some time.
