Fresh trouble seems to be brewing for YSRCP boss YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ahead of the prestigious 2024 elections. It's a dispute that he has least expected. On one side is a senior leader, who stood by him when the chips were done and on the other is a trusted young lieutenant. What's more troublesome for him is the fact that both the leaders are from the same community and the same constituency as well.
Rajya Sabha MP Pillis Subhashchandra Bose has dropped a bombshell when he said the other day that his son Pilli Surya Prakash would contest the elections from Ramachandrapuram assembly constituency in undivided East Godavari district. Now, the constituency is currently represented by minister Chelluboyina Venu. Both Pilli and Chelluboyina are from the powerful Settibalija community.
In fact, it was Pilli who suggested Chelluboyina's name for Ramachandrapuram constituency in the 2019 elections and worked for his success. However, the relations soured between both the leaders ever since. Though Venu tried to make amends and visited Pilli's residence more than once, Pilli did not reciprocate.
Now, Pilli has made his supporters announce the candidature of Pilli Surya Prakash for the Ramachandrapuram constituency in the upcoming elections. This means it would be a tug-of-war between both Pilli and Chelluboyina. The ball is now in the court of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. It remains to be seen how he would address the issue and solve the problem.
