Jammalamadugu TDP Has No Leader

Update: 2020-09-15 06:47 GMT
Till a few years ago, Jammalamadugu assembly constituency in YSR Kadapa district was an unshakeable citadel of the Telugu Desam Party. It's candidates won with handsome margins. Though Kadapa by and large went with the Congress, Jammalamadugu remained steadfastly with the TDP. But, not any more. Things are a changing these days in Jammalamadugu.

For years Jammalamadugu belonged to the Ponnapareddy family. Ponnapareddy Shiva Reddy was MLA for two terms, before being killed by political rivals. After him his son P Ramasubba Reddy became the MLA twice and he even went on to become a minister. But, later, YS Rajasekhar Reddy focused on the constituency and had put up a powerful candidate. Adinarayana Reddy, the YSRCP candidate, defeated Ramasmma Reddy twice.

Now, Ramasubba Reddy is in the YSRCP, while Adinarayana Reddy is in the BJP. As a result, the TDP does not have any strong and credible leader. The party has now become weak and emaciated. It has lost the Ramasubba Reddy and has no leader of stature. So, the once mighty Telugu Desam today has no leader in Jammalamadugu.
