Lok Satta Chief Jayaprakash Narayan is firmly against the defection of Opposition MLAs into Ruling Parties, whether its in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana.
JP is of the view Speaker shouldn't be given the power to disqualify the Legislators as Ruling Party has been using its power to save the Defectors from getting disqualified. He demands either Election Commission & Governor should be given power to disqualify defected MLAs.
Its really unfortunate that no action has been taken inspite of the drama over defections. Lok Satta believes its time for Election Commission to order Governor to disqualify all those MLAs who won on the ticket of Opposition Party & joined Ruling Party.
Until now, 14 YCP MLAs joined TDP in AP and few more lawmakers will be taking the same path in the near future. In Telangana, MLAs of Congress, TDP, YSR Congress and BSP shifted loyalties to TRS after 2014 polls.
