NIA Special Court Today convicted five terrorists of Indian Mujahideen in the bomb blasts which took place in Dilsukhnagar in the year 2013. The convicts are identified as Yasin Bhatkal, Zia-ur-Rahman from Pakistan, Asadullah Akthar from Uttar Pradesh, Aizaz Shaik from Maharashtra and Tahseen Akhtar from Bihar.
The Court convicted the terrorists under sections of Arms Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Indian Penal Code. Quantum of sentence will be pronounced on December 19th, 2016.
In the twin blasts in Dilshuknagar on February 21st, 2013, About 17 people were killed and 130 other suffered injuries. Yasin Bhatkal, the mastermind behind the blasts, was nabbed by NIA on the Indo-Nepal border. The terrorists had conducted a recce in Hyderabad and choose Dilshuknagar where Hindu population is more. NIA disclosed that Terrorists received necessary funding from abroad. During the investigation, Information has been collected from about 440 witnesses. 251 documents and 300 material objects have been seized by NIA in connection with the case.
