Hindu seer Kalicharan Maharaj who created an uproar by allegedly making derogatory remarks against the 'Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi has been arrested by the Cops in Madhya Pradesh. Holding him responsible for the alleged remarks, he has been taken into custody.
In connection with the hate speech that has caught the attention of the entire nation, a team of Chhattisgarh Police went to Madhya Pradesh and arrested him from the Khajuraho hotel on Thursday, media reports said. The cops are shifting the seer to Chhattisgarh from Madhya Pradesh and he is expected to be shifted by evening.
Going into details, religious guru Kalicharan Maharaj made it to the headlines for the reason of reportedly making objectionable remarks on Mahatma Gandhi. Not only that, he allegedly passed comments against the minorities that are not in good taste. After the video went viral, several people condemned his comments, and cases were booked in regions like Raipur and Pune.
The event was held on the 19th of this month in Maharashtra's Pune marking the "Shivpratap Din", which is celebrated on the occasion of celebrated Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj killing Afzalkhan.
He has been criticized widely by making comments that reportedly sounded like he supported Nathuram Godse on his actions of killing Mahatma Gandhi.
Besides Raipur, a case was also filed in Pune under sections 295 (a), 298, 505 (2), 34 of the Indian Penal Code against the Hindu seer Kalicharan Maharaj and others like Milind Ekbote, Nandakishor Ekbote, Mohan Shete, Dipak Nagpure, and Captain Digendra Kumar.
As a response to the case filed against the Hindu Seer, the Raipur Cops had swung into action and sent special teams to arrest him. While teams have been sent to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, the team found out that he is at a hotel in Madhya Pradesh.
The seer was taken into custody days after Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that they will not let the culprits behind the infamous comments let go and those who are responsible will be punished. The Chief Minister said strict action would be taken against them.
