Despite YS Jagan's point blank admission that giving reservations to Kapus was not in his hands, the Kapus seem to be moving close to YS Jagan. They are unhappy with Chandrababu Naidu, who promised them reservations during the elections in 2014 and then did nothing. The Kapus feel that Jagan is being very honest when he said that giving reservations was not in his hands and that he would increase the allocations to Kapus to Rs 10000crore.
Though Mudragada and Chandrababu slammed YS Jagan for his comments, the latter stuck to his guns. In the wake of these developments, senior Kapu leaders from Godavari district met at Kirlampudi in East Godavari on Thursday. The meet has discussed various issues such as Jagan's comments and Chandrababuâs actions for the past four years. Many Kapu leaders, who attended the meeting, reportedly backed YS Jagan and slammed Chandrababu Naidu.
They felt Jagan was being honest and was speaking the truth. They said it was the Centre which has to bring the act to give reservation to the Kapus. They felt Chandrababu has deceived them with false promises. They felt that since the BJP is likely to return again at the Centre, Chandrababu will face troubled times. So, backing Jagan would be a good idea, they felt. Mudragada, however, felt that he cannot change his stance. But, other Kapu leaders convinced him not to speak anything on Jagan. The Kapu leaders also felt that they should be careful about Pawan Kalyan as his brother Chiru had damaged the reputation of the Kapus by his shifting political stance. If Pawan too does a flipflop, then the Kapu leaders would lose whatever credibility they have now.
