The comments made by Kathi Mahesh on Lord Rama and Ramayan stirred a controversy. He dared to call Rama as 'Dagulbagi' & commented Sita should have got justice had if she stayed with Ravana.
On Monday night, Banjara Hills Police arrested Kathi Mahesh at his residence based on the four cases booked by them for making inappropriate comments. The statement of the critic has been recorded. Before releasing him Today, Cops warned Kathi not to make any attempts to manipulate the witnesses or distort facts. He was asked to be prepared to appear for questioning once again if needed.
Speaking to media, Kathi Mahesh told Cops collected his response on the complaints registered against him by Hindu Outfits. He informed about the explanation sought for making comments which hurt religious sentiments.
After his release from police custody, Kathi Mahesh defended his controversial comments by quoting the writings of Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry who translated the Epic Ramayana. He told the writings published by Manasu Foundation confirm Rama himself asked Sita to go back to Ravana during the war.
Interestingly, Kathi Mahesh made it clear he isn't the first person to say such things. He told Mani Ratnam (Raavan) and Babu Gogineni expressed the same views in the past.
