Kerala Government Today told the Supreme Court that it favors entry of women of all age groups into the Sabarimala Temple.
In 2007, Kerala Government filed an affidavit allowing women from entering Sabarimala temple. In July this year, An additional affidavit was filed by the State Government recommending debar of women form entering the temple premises.
Finally, Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government took U-Turn on its stand. Senior Advocate Gupta appearing for Kerala Government informed the Apex Court about the new stand. The next hearing of the case will be on February next year.
Three month festival period comprising 'Mandala Pooja' and 'Makaravilakku' will start in Sabarimala from November 15th. Around four crore people are expected to visit the temple during this period.
