Prof Kodandaram does not seem to believe in the dictum that demands have to be reasonable. They should be based on the actual strength of the party. He is making demands that are not just unreasonable, but are downright problematic.
Normally, the agreement between the Maha Kutami partners is broadly over and there is general agreement over the the number of seats each of the partners would get. But, only Kodandaram seems to have a bloated image of his party.
Recently, speaking after meeting Rahul Gandhi, he said that the Kutami parties should quickly come to an understanding. Otherwise, all the parties would have to suffer losses, he said. He then dropped a bombshell saying the Telangana Jana Samithi was demanding 17 seats and was ready to contest in 15 seats. Till now, all the partners are agreeing to 7 to 9 seats to TJS. But, he has now putforth a demand for 17 seats. He also argued that the TJS was very strong in 25 seats.
But through all this, he did not reveal where from he would be contesting. When asked by the reporters, he said this is not a fight between individuals and that he would reveal his seat after going to Hyderabad. For all we know, except Kodanda, all other leaders of TJS are nameless and faceless. Yet, he is demanding 17 seats.
It appears Kodanda wants to delay the seat adjustment in Maha Kutami and do not want the final lists out anytime soon. But, there are many who believe that Kodanda was being very strategic and has made these comments with lot of foresight. Whatever, Prof Kodandaram's demands seem to be highly unreasonable.
