Update: 2022-02-10 10:35 GMT
Karnataka's infamous Hijab controversy is all over the news. From regional media to national media, almost every outlet is covering the news. A petition in connection with the Hijab controversy had made its way to the country's top court Supreme Court.

As a reaction to the petition filed seeking the intervention of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said that the court will see. We will see, the Chief Justice said.

A petition seeking directives to transfer the petition to the Supreme Court was filed with the court. Veteran Congressman and lawyer by profession Kapil Sibal had represented the petitioner who sought the transfer.

Replying to the petition, the Bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana which also comprises Justices AS Bopanna and Hima Kohli said, they can intervene in the matter as the issue is pending with the Karnataka High Court.

The bench said that it cannot say anything on this as it would be too early. Citing that the issue is pending with the High Court, the bench said let the High Court hear the petition and then they will think of it.

On the other hand, the Karnataka High Court had started hearing the petitions on the Hijab controversy just a while ago. A bunch of petitions were filed with the High Court over the issue by a few Muslim students.

In the petitions, the petitioner found fault with the authorities at the educational institutions asking them to not wear Hijab while coming to colleges. Objecting to this, the students said that the directives received from the authority violated their basic rights and sought the dismissal of the orders.

However, the Karnataka government said that they want no unwanted issues and as a precautionary measure, a few colleges and schools were shut.

The authorities at the concerned educational institutions said that the students should follow a uniform while coming to the institutions and irrespective of the religions they follow. For the same, they wanted the students to follow the guidelines that were issued on the college uniform. With Muslim students saying that they will come to college only with Hijab, a few Hindu students started protesting against it.
