New Year's eve made wonders for the excise department. The liquor sales have gone up to a record high and crores of the worth of liquor was sold. The celebrations started one week before the New Year and reached the peaks on the eve, resulting in a massive income for the department.
The details shared by the Telangana Excise Department said that more than Rs 3,000 crore worth of liquor was sold in the state in 2021, which peaked in December. Compared to 2020, the sales were quite high in 2021.
December had turned out to be a money-making month with record sales. In December alone, Rs 3,350 crore liquor sales were recorded in the state, which is quite higher than the previous year, which had liquor sales worth Rs 2,767 crore.
As of Friday, the liquor sales stood at Rs 30,196 crores and this week recorded a sale worth over Rs 900 crores.
Ranga Reddy saw a record sales with Rs 6,979 crores, followed by Nalgonda and capital city Hyderabad with Rs 3,288 and Rs 3,201 crores respectively.
