The ruling BJP wants to come to power again. But the surveys are saying that Congress would get more seats. Congress is trying to come to power.
The last date to file the nominations for the elections was over. BJP and Congress gave tickets for rich candidates to come to power. Candidates with serious allegations also got the tickets.
Shockingly, around 581 members who account for 22 percent of total candidates are facing serious allegations. The nominations of 2613 candidates out of 2586 candidates were examined by the Association for Democratic Reforms(ADR). 404 candidates out of 581 candidates contesting 224 Assembly seats are facing serious criminal charges.
While 224 people filed their nominations from the ruling BJP, 96 out of them are facing allegations. Out of 223 Congress candidates, 122 candidates are facing allegations. 208 people are contesting from JDS and 70 people are facing cases.48 leaders from AAP are facing allegations out of 208 candidates. 119 out of 901 independent candidates are facing cases. Candidates from 111 constituencies are facing more than three cases.
The ADR said that the BJP and JDS parties gave tickets to candidates with criminal backgrounds. While 37 percent of candidates from the BJP have cases in 2018, the percentage has gone up to 43 percent.
55 candidates from Congress have cases. In the 2018 elections as well, the Congress party has the same percentage of leaders with such cases.
However, almost every party gave tickets to rich candidates.216 candidates from the BJP are Crorepatis and 215 Crorepatis are from the Congress. 170 and 197 candidates from JDS and AAP are. Even 215 independent candidates are rich. The worth of each candidate is around Rs 12 crores.
