Massive Growth Of IPL, Brand Value Stands At $3.2 billion!

Board of Control for Cricket in India's brainchild Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most successful tournament in the world without any doubt. In fifteen years of its inception, the tournament kept on growing and reached great heights. IPL also gave inspiration to other tournaments in many nations. But none of them managed to reach the level of the IPL.

The money IPL generates is so big that the BCCI can buy many cricket boards in other nations. As an example of how big the tournament is, IPL's brand value is estimated at $3.2 billion. In just one year, the tournament's brand value saw a big rise of around 80 percent compared to the previous year.

California-based global investment bank Houlihan Lokey, Inc shared some interesting details about IPL and its brand value. The bank said that the brand value of IPL stands at $3.2 billion. On the other hand, the business enterprise value of the IPL is around $15.4 billion, which increased by around 80 percent compared to the last year.

It has to be mentioned here that companies pay big amounts to get the media rights of the matches. On top of this, the fees the players get for playing one match is so big that it is higher than the other tournament. The money flow in the tournament is such that IPL players get the second highest fees while National Football League (NFL) stands in the first place. Tracking the journey of IPL, the investment bank said that every year, the tournament is getting bigger and bigger and the brand value is also seeing big heights.

Chennai Super Kings which has the record of winning the highest number of Trophies in IPL along with Mumbai Indians with 5 trophies is ranked at the top position in terms of brand value. CSK's brand value stands at $212 million and the franchise is also at the top in business enterprise value.

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians teams stand at the second and third positions with a brand value of $195 million and $190 million respectively. With an increase of 103 percent in year-on-year brand value rise, Rajasthan Royals saw the highest growth.
