Microsoft Cloud Data Centers in India

Microsoft CEO Nadella today said it will offer commercial cloud services from local data centres in India by 2015. Calling cloud service as a "$2 trillion opportunity", Nadella said the company will look to partner with Indian corporates, government, and entrepreneurs.

As per the announcement of Microsoft,it will set up 3 data centres in three cities in the country by the end of 2015. Nadella added world-class (cloud) infrastructure will help revitalize productivity and it will enable India in acquiring new opportunities in tech world. Microsoft India Chairman Bhaskar Pramanik said, "By offering out cloud services through local data centres, we can help make Digital India a reality. This opens new possibilities in e-governance, financial inclusion, healthcare and education."

So far, none of the large cloud computing companies, including Amazon, Google and Microsoft, have built a local data centers in region wise. First time in Microsoft history its planning local data centers in India.
