Additional Rs.10 Resulted Into Rs.50,000 Fine

It is a common thing for us to pay extra bucks for water bottles & snacks when we go to a multiplex.  Even if we try to argue with them they will give careless answers and it will spoil our mood.  That's the reason why many of us keep silent on the issue and don't argue with them.  But everybody will not be silent and Chennai based Karthik Manickam wanted to teach them a lesson.

He went to a multiplex to watch a movie in Chennai.  He bought some snacks form an outlet in the interval.  Though the cost of snacks was Rs.140, they have charged Rs.10 extra.  When he asked the reason for charging addition Rs.10, he was told that it was charged towards tele-connectivity required for the swiping machine, bank transaction & service charges.  Upset with their unfair charges, he filed a complaint with the Consumers Forum in Chennai.

After conducting an enquiry into the issue, Consumers Forum levied a fine of Rs.50,000 and asked the outlet to pay the amount to Karthik.  They also asked them to return the Rs.10 as well.  They ordered to pay the compensation within six weeks if they fail to pay within six weeks a 9% interest would be added to the amount until the payment is done.

It seems we need more people like Karthik in every city.., especially in Hyderabad.  Otherwise, we'll end up paying additional money which will put deep holes to our pockets.
