Top Scientist Resigns Over His Lover Visit In Lockdown

Update: 2020-05-07 10:42 GMT
Professor Neil Ferguson, a leading epidemiologist, is one of the architects of the UK government's stay at home strategy has resigned from his government post on Tuesday, after a media house revealed he broke the lockdown rules.

He was a prominent member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) which has been leading the country's coronavirus response.

The Telegraph newspaper reported that his lover Antonia Staats visited his home on at least two occasions during the lockdown.

Even after he tested positive for the virus, he allowed his girlfriend to walk his home.

Prof Ferguson regretted undermining social distancing rules and accepted he made an error of judgement and took the wrong course of action. Therefore stepped back from his involvement in SAGE.
