It is known that the KCR-led Telangana government gave its nod for the New Year celebrations and permission for the liquor sale was also given. As the permission was granted in the wake of the Omicron scare, several concerns were raised fearing that the virus might spread in the state with the celebrations as people will gather for the celebrations.

The same fears on the possible Omicron spread had made a petitioner knock on the doors of the Telangana High Court against the new permissions granted by the state government for the celebrations. In the petition, the petitioner said that the state government came at the time of the new variant posing a big threat.

Questioning how the Telangana government gave relaxations not going with the orders issued by the High Court, the petitioner opined that the action is nothing but a violation of the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act.

The petitioner also found fault with the New Year celebrations and liquor sales getting permission from the state government and asked if getting persimmon till midnight comes under restrictions.

Mentioning that Telangana had already logged 62 infections caused by the Omicron variant, the petition said that the government had violated the orders issued by the court earlier and sought directives from the court to see that no celebrations were permitted in the state.

The sensational petition which had caught the attention of everyone is expected to come for the hearing on Thursday. Given the Omicron situation, everyone is talking about the petition to know what orders will the Telangana High Court give as a response to the petition.

The issue had reached the High Court after the Telangana Government permitted the New Year celebrations and the liquor sale. While granting the permission for the same, the government had also issued a Government Order in the name of the Chief Secretary.

The Government Order says that the liquor sales will go on till midnight on December 31st and January 1st and the bars, restaurants that are into the business of selling liquor will be granted the concerning permissions from the authorities.
