The National Institutional Ranking Framework(NIRF) which ranks educational institutions and universities based on various parameters, announced the best institutions in various categories. Parameters like teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach, and inclusivity and perception are considered while preparing the list.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras proved its capability once again as it is ranked the premier educational institute in the country. IIT Madras was ranked the best institute for five consecutive years. Since 2019, the university has been getting the top place. IIT Madras is also standing in the top position in the engineering category for the last eight years.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Bombay, and IIT Kanpur were ranked in the next positions respectively in the academic rankings.
In the University category, the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISC Bengaluru) is at the top position followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Jadavpur University, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and University of Hyderabad.
In the category of medical colleges, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) Delhi stood at the top, followed by Christian Medical College - Tamil Nadu, National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences - Bangalore, Karnataka, Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research - Pondicherry and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Delhi AIIMS has been getting the top position since 2018.
It is run by the Indian government and has some of the best facilities in the country. Its facilities are on par with luxury private hospitals and politicians will be taken to the hospital for treatment. It is no wonder that Delhi AIIMS got the top position yet again.
In the 2023 NIRF rankings released by the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Education and External Affairs, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Miranda House bagged the first place in the Colleges category followed by Hindu College and Presidency College in Chennai. Miranda House bagged the top position for the seventh consecutive time and Hindu College retained its place as the second-best college for the second term.
