S Bhuvaneswari, the Hostel Warden of National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Calicut in Kerala, issued a warning notice asking girl students not to roam with boys in the residential campus. Female Students were asked to be prepared for suspension or expulsion from hostel if they was caught mingling with boys inside the residential campus.
G Unnikrishnan who is the dean of students welfare informs that circular was issued to ensure the safety of the female students after receiving complaints from the faculty.
Students Affairs Council at NIT firmly opposed the circular and the harsh punishment. It demanded the Warden and concerned authorities to withdraw it.
After a uproar on the regressive circular on Social Media, Management has withdrawn the circular immediately. Kozhikode district collector Prasanth Nair described the circular as pathetic. He is now mulling to take appropriate disciplinary action on those who issued the circular.
