Will the YS Jagan governments plan to carve out new districts in the state hit a roadblock Those in the know say that the Center may step in to ask the State government to put on hold the plans for reorganization. Sources say that The Center which has already issued an order stating that any reorganization of the districts should be taken up only after the census is conducted.
Meanwhile new demands are cropping up for carving out new districts. For instance the locals of Narsapur are unhappy at Bhimavaram being declared as the district headquarters. Similarly the people of Narsipatnam want their region to be declared as a new district. Similarly the tribals of Araku are demanding that their district be named after tribal warrior Mallu Dora and want Alluris name to be given to Anakapalli district.
The Central government meanwhile has put an embargo till June on forming new districts. The director of census operations has written a letter to this effect to the chief secretaries of all the states. Hence the general impression is that there wont be any new district at least till June.
