Not just Rishi Sunak, these Indian-origin persons too are heads of the state

Now it's official. An Indian origin man is the prime minister of Britain. Rishi Sunak, a first generation Indian immigrant has now been elected the prime minister of Britain. In another first, he took oath on the Bhagavad Gita, the book that the Hindus revere. Rishi also became one of the youngest to become British PMs.

While this is undoubtedly a proud moment for all Indians world over, there are several other Indian-origin people ruling various countries. Indian-origin Pravind Jugnauth is the prime minister of Indian Ocean country Mauritius. His father Anirud Jugnauth too was a prime minister. His ancestors hail from today's Uttar Pradesh. The president of Mauritius, Prithvirajsingh Roopun, too is of Indian origin.

Portuguese prime minister Antonio Costa too has Indian roots. His ancestors hail from the coastal state of Goa. He speaks Konkan fairly well. He was elected prime minister in 2015.  South American country Suriname too has an Indian origin president. Chandrika Persad Chan Santokhi is the 9th president of the country. He took oath amid chanting of Vedic mantras.

Indian ocean country Seychelles has an Indian origin president in Wavel Ramkalawan. Similarly, Guyana's present president Mohammed Irfan Ali too is of Indian origin. Singapore president Haleema Yakob too has an Indian connection. US vice-president Kamala Harris too is of Indian origin. Jamaica, Barbados and Fiji too had Indian-origin presidents and prime ministers.
