Update: 2019-10-25 05:00 GMT
For the first ever time in the history, a candidate had to win the election defeating NOTA. In Maharashtra's Latur, NOTA polled the second highest votes. While the Congress won the seat with 75.10 per cent vote share, the NOTA came second ith 13.06 per cent votes. Congress candidate Dhiraj Deshmukh is the son for former CM Vilas Rao Deshmukh. This is the first time that he has contested as an MLA candidate.

Interestingly, Shiv Sena candidate who contested here stood fourth behind Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi candidate. The VBA candidate polled 4.9 per cent vote, while the Shiv Sena candidate polled 4.7 per cent votes.  Interestingly, the votes polled by NOTA is more than the total votes polled by VBA, Shiv Sena, Maharashtra Nava Nirman Sena and the Bahujan Samaj Party together.

NOTA has so far influenced the election outcome in several constituencies of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and other states. But, this is the first time that it polled the second highest number of votes. Dhiraj Deshmukhs brother is Reitesh Deshmukh. Both Reitesh and his wife Genelia campaigned for Dhiraj.
