officers want to become MPs, MLAs, TRS leaders worried

Several senior officials in the Telangana administration are said to be planning to don the political hat for the 2023 elections. These senior officers have already begun their political moves and this is said to be giving jitters to the party leaders and sitting MLAs who are seeking the party tickets for the 2023 elections.

Most of the ticket-seeking government officials have already launched trusts to take up social service activities in their target areas. State public health director Gadala Srinivasa Rao is said to be eyeing Kothagudem assembly constituency. He has already set up a trust in his father’s name and is planning to hold a mega health camp On March 12.

Another official, whose name is doing the rounds is Shyam Naik. He is the Jagityal district transport officer and is the husband of Khanapur TRS MLA Rekha Naik. He is said to be seeking MP ticket from Adilabad Lok Sabha seat. He is said to have begun touring the constituency. Telangana NGOs Association president Mamilla Rajender  and Nizamabad police commissioner KR Nagaraju too are said to be eyeing a political post. Both are said to be trying to contest the 2023 elections.

The names of Peddapalli additional collector Lakshminarayana, senior MP cadre IAS officer P Narahari, Mulug DHMO A Appaiah and others are also doing the rounds. While most of the officers want to contest from the ruling TRS, there are some who want to contest on the BSP ticket. Power official M Ramesh of Nakrekal is said to be planning to contest from Nakrekal on the BSP ticket.

The arrival of these officials is said to have alarmed the sitting MLAs and the local leaders, who are eying the MLA tickets. They are said to be trying to block the programmes of these new entrants. They are said to be lobbying hard to ensure that these officials do not contest in the 2023 elections.
