YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power in Andhra Pradesh with a lot of expectations and hopes. YSR followers and sympathisers pinned high hopes that Jagan would do wonders in the state that has no capital city. But the reality turned out to be quite different.
Forget about developing the state, the YSRCP government could not even repair the roads. On many occasions, many expressed their dissatisfaction with the roads. The opposition parties in the state lashed out at the government over the facilities. Leaders from other states also shed light on the poor road condition.
Now the poor road conditions in Andhra Pradesh came for discussion after a newspaper covered it. The picture that appeared in a newspaper shows passengers in a bus holding umbrellas to save them from the rainfall.
Road conditions became worse due to the recent rains. On top of that, the buses were not repaired. The rainfall made the passengers face rain inside the buses too and the situation is horrible.
The buses have holes on the top making way for the rainwater to fall on passengers. With no option left, the passengers carried umbrellas inside the bus and a newspaper covered that.
No passengers in the country would have faced the situation which is being faced by passengers in Andhra Pradesh. Usually, passengers prefer buses in the rain so that they won't get wet. But the bus condition is that it cannot save the passengers from the rain. With no other option, they carried umbrellas till they finished their travel.
The YSRCP is facing severe criticism that it is focusing only on giving freebies and continuing the welfare schemes rather than investing the money in developing the infrastructure and providing employment opportunities.
Adding fuel to the criticism, the ruling party only talks about the welfare schemes and how it is covering every section of society under the welfare schemes. Welfare schemes won't make the future better. All they do is make people get habituated to easy money and easy benefits. This will help the party, but not the state. Let us hope that the ruling party will look into the roads.
