Plane Ends Up In Drain Due To Age Gap Between Pilots

Update: 2019-05-11 07:19 GMT
An Air India Express Flight IX 452 from Abu Dhabi to Kochi ended up in an open drain on September 4th, 2017. Initially, There was an assumption that it could have happening due to challenging weather condition as there was heavy rain at the time of landing. About 102 passengers were onboard that Kochi-bound flight. Three passengers suffered injuries and the front landing gear of the aircraft got damaged completely.

A Probe into the incident revealed shocking facts. That accident happened not due to weather condition but because of the age gap between the pilots. A Senior Male Pilot who was 30 years older to his Female Co-Pilot refused to take suggestions and didn't bothered to care about her warning.

The Co-Pilot told the Senior Pilot that she can't see runway markings and suggested him to go very slowly. However, The Senior Pilot didn't respond and ended up taking the plane into an open rain water drain.

To prevent such incidents from happening again, Aviation Authorities directed Air India Express to ensure there isn't huge age gap between pilots who are flying the same plane.
